For students aged six years and up  who would like to learn to tickle the  ivories.

Albany Creek Music offers Piano and Keyboard lessons for complete beginners and weekend enthusiasts, right through to advanced students preparing for AMEB exams.  Our enthusiastic and professional teachers are working musicians with experience teaching students of all ages and experience.  We offer group keyboard lessons and individual piano lessons.

Group Keyboard Lessons

Our group keyboard lessons are perfect for school aged beginner and intermediate students. We keep classes very small with a maximum of 5 students per class which still allows us to tailor the class and provide individual attention for every student.  Each student has their own state of the art electric keyboard and headphones to avoid distraction from other students.  Our technology allows the teacher to communicate to the whole class through their headphones, or to listen to each student individually and provide feedback and assistance.

We will place your child into a group based on their age and experience.  Group keyboard lessons with 2-3 students run for 30 minutes, classes with 4-5 students run for 45 minutes.   Group keyboard lessons are $18.50 per lesson.

Individual piano lessons:

Our private piano lessons are even further tailored to each individual student, our teachers can offer their full attention during the 30 minute piano lesson to ensure the student reaches their musical goals.  Private piano lessons are held in an air-conditioned classroom on an upright piano.

Individual piano lessons run for 30 minutes and are $32.50 per lesson.

7 Reasons to Learn the Piano

1. IMPROVE CO-ORDINATION & FINE MOTOR SKILLS

Playing the piano requires an incredible amount of co-ordination. Not only do both hands play different parts, you also have to use your foot for the pedal, both ears to hear, and both eyes to read the music! Piano practice also trains fingers to be quick, agile, and precise while also improving dexterity.

2. INCREASE YOUR VOCABULARY

Learning the piano can increase the neural pathways that lead to the speech and language centres of our brains.

3. BUILD SELF-CONFIDENCE

Learning the piano takes patience, hard work, and determination, and mastering a new piece provides a great sense of accomplishment. Music lessons also encourage students to accept and learn from constructive criticism. Turning this feedback into positive change helps build confidence and self-esteem.

4. GATEWAY INSTRUMENT

The piano is a great first step into the world of music. There are many instruments to choose from, but none are as simple and straightforward as the piano. Once you understand the black and white of the piano (pun intended), that knowledge can be easily translatable to all other instruments.

5. LOWER YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE

Harvard Health found that playing relaxing music, like ballads or love songs, can help lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety.

6. IMPROVE BRAIN HEALTH

The complexity of piano playing requires several parts of the brain to work simultaneously. The difficulty of combining intellectual and physical capacities at the same time is extraordinarily challenging and demands focus at all times. Pracitcing piano improves hand-eye co-ordination, hones maths skills, increases memory, and enhances the brain’s ability to think creatively.

7. GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH & MOOD

According to the University of Oxford, the act of sitting and playing the piano helps to release endorphins. High levels of endorphins help to decrease depression, pain, loneliness, stress, and anxiety.
